If you have room at your home for a pet, consider adoption from the Animal Welfare League Queensland.
The Animal Welfare League Queensland rehomes and cares for more than 8000 homeless and abandoned animals each year. Did you know that each animal that the AWLQ cares for, costs approximately $660 each and this money is never fully recouped? The organisation relies on the generous donations of individuals and corporate benefactors and the money received from every higher priced adoption, supports giving other animals the life saving support they need.
If you are looking to adopt a dog or cat on the Gold Coast, Logan, Ipswich or anywhere in the south east, take a look at the animals that are waiting for forever homes at each of our locations.
Even if you can’t adopt an animal, there’s so many other ways you can support the AWLQ. You can help us fundraise at work, school or in your community, consider putting a collection tin at your workplace or encourage family to make a bequest in your will.
You can also join our AWLQ family and become a member. There’s so many different ways to help. Find out more about it at our website.
The Animal Welfare of Queensland has been operating for over operates across Queensland at 4 locations;
- Coombabah Rehoming Centre, Gold Coast

Whether it’s a kitten, a puppy or you want to give an older dog a loving home in their twilight years, consider adopting from the AWLQ and support the work they do to give all animals a second chance.
